Isle of Palms - With Friends

On Wednesday, we headed back to the beach - this time with friends. We went with the Choreys, Baileys, Brusins, Howes, Connors, and some of the Filters and Outzses. It was much hotter this time.

It was the perfect end to summer. It was good we got some beach time in because the next week Tropical Storm Debby dropped 20 inches of rain on Charleston.

Isle of Palms - With Family

We got back home on Tuesday, and on Wednesday, Grammy and Grandad flew in. They spent the night and the next day we headed to Charleston. We rented a van so everyone could fit. It was nearly new and only had 4,000 miles on it!

We picked up Tiffani and Cameron at the Charleston Airport and then headed to a Verbo in Isle of Palms. It was a cute beach house that had everything we needed. Grandad had said he didn't want to plan any activities, he just wanted to sit on the beach. So that's what we did.

I was worried because the weather report showed lots of rain. I was worried we'd be stuck inside. Instead, it was just perfect. It rained every day, but just enough to pack down the sand so it was easy to walk on. It also kept it cooled off so it wasn't too hot. We were able to walk on the beach every day, spend several hours in the sun, swim in the ocean, and then spend the rest of the day watching the Olympics. It was wonderful.

South Carolina has the most beautiful beaches.

Bathing Beauty
Jalen is an ardent seashell collector.
It was wonderful to see Tiffani healthy enough to swim and run on the beach.
Grammy stayed out of the sun. Fortunately, it was cloudy most of the time and not too hot.
I love being at the beach.
Baylie, Jalen, and Cameron
Jalen spied this little crab, which was actually pretty big. He kept popping in and out of his hole. I spent way too much time waiting for him to make an appearance.
It was peaceful and relaxing.
David joined us on Friday after work. Here is is sand sculpture.
The stormy skies were majestic.
Riding the waves. (Atlantic waves aren't quite the same as those in the Pacific.)
Good morning!
Sand castle ruins.
I love the beach side dunes.
Did I mention Baylie wants to be a cook??
On Sunday, we went to church in the ward where Jace Jimaii is serving. He is from Tiffani's ward and she is like a mom to him. He'd only been in the mission for a couple of weeks. The mission president was there so she was able to meet him and talk to him about Jace. It was great to see him.
After church, we went to the market to do a little souvenir shoppping. We at a very sketchy café (Tiff and Cameron later got sick). We visited the candy shop and bought pralines and gophers. So good!
We dropped Tiff and Cameron off at the airport and headed to Cypress Gardens. I had long wanted to take David, Baylie, Grammy, and Grandad there. Jalen and I were the only ones that had been there. It's so beautiful and I love it.

Grammy and Grandad flew home early the next morning. It was a wonderful weekend. I love my parents and my sister. I wish I could see them more often.
