- After Eric and Ariel got married, did everyone in the kingdom stop eating fish? If so, what about the fishing industry? It seemed to be pretty big there in the kingdom and I would think all the fishermen would resent the new princess. (BTW - Does any one else see a concern in the fact that Ariel's seashells leave little to the imagination? I like Ariel, but she comes across as a major airhead to me.)
- What is the name of Snow White's prince? Does the fact that he has a nice singing voice really make him marriage material since he doesn't seem to have any other redeeming qualities?
- Prince Phillip is a studly prince while I think the Snow White prince seems wimpy. If I had to be woken up by a kiss, I'd definitely want Phillip over the other.
- Why don't the princes have mothers? Is that to avoid problems with the mothers in law?
- Why if the kings are short and fat are their sons tall and handsome?
- Does anyone else think the princesses are kind of easy since they kiss even before the first date and get married right away?
- I think Mulan and Tiana are the best heroines because they are smart and have some skills. They also end up with hunky guys, which is only fair. Plus, their men have to do more than just wake them up with a kiss or put a shoe on them.

Disney Analogies
I watch too many princess movies. So many that I'm starting to over analyze them. For example:

great queries!
I love it! You have to remember Belle is smart also because she fights with him and learns to love a Beast not a man. I have to tell you I know how you feel!!! Right now we are all about Dragons. Yes, I can't believe it, but they wear their princess dress once in a while.
What about Belle? She is smart.
It bugs me on Enchanted how she falls out of the tree and onto the princes horse and he asks her name and says, "Oh, Giselle, we shall be married in the morning". As if it were that easy!! All you need is a name, I guess.
Oh, and I hate the prince on Beauty and the beast. He's too girly. I think I preferred the beast!!
Belle is smart, but I agree that the Prince is girly and I like the beast better.
As far as Enchanted, I think it's very tongue in cheek and funny.
Oh my heck, you are the funniest person Kristin! I don't know if Baylie has seen any of the Barbie movies, but my girls are hooked! (Especially Maya).
Dad says everyone has too much time on their hands.
It's a fairy tale for pete's sake. There are no answers. It's where all your dreams come true. No reality is necessary. Wake up and smell the roses.
We don't know the Beast's real "prince name" either. It bugs the crap out of me how at the end he says "Belle, it's me..." and she just kisses him, like "oh, hi you!" and all's well.
I think that part (but just part) of the portrayl of the princesses reflects the eras in which Disney wrote their versions of the story.
Oh, and Ariel is only 16, too! And Aurora!
(found you through Heidi D.)
I also think the princesses have become less and less modest over the years (compare Cinderella's attire to Ariel and Jazmine's). I had a roommate in college do a paper on that subject. That's another reason to love Tiana - my all time favorite princess. I'm glad to see Rapunzel is also wearing a modest dress. Gotta love these powerful princesses that save themselves.
