Grin and Bear It

Jalen had all his teeth before his first birthday. I was worried about that because I've heard that the earlier you get your teeth, the less healthy they are. I don't know if that's true or not, but at his first dentist appointment a couple of weeks ago, they told us Jalen had eight very small cavities that had to be drilled out. Today we went back for the procedure.

Jalen wasn't too happy to be at the dentist. He kept asking to go to the library. He did like watching Mulan (our dentist specializes in Pediatrics and the office is VERY kid friendly.)

They gave him a little drink to calm him down and then wrapped him up in a blanket. When it was all open, Jalen thought it looked like an airplane, so he was actually excited to get in. Then they put a little mask on him. It's times like this when my using a C-PAP comes in handy because he was excited to wear a mask like Mommy.

He had a little monitor on his foot to make sure his oxygen and pulse were okay.

The dentist (LOVE that she is black) kept commenting over and over about how good Jalen was. He didn't fight or fuss at all. She said he was by far the best patient she had ever had.

Afterwards, Jalen was pretty loopy. I carried him to the car and into the apartment, but once we got home, I couldn't get him to stay down. He kept walking like he'd been spun around a few too many times. Right now he's sound asleep in the middle of the living room floor.

Very proud of my brave little boy!

Every night when I brush Liam's teeth I think that I should make an appointment for him to see the dentist. Then morning comes and the thought is gone. One of these days I'll get him in and I will be surprised if he doesn't have at least one cavity. That's awesome the Jalen did so well!

8!?!! Oh, my! Well at least you got all 8 taken care of in one visit!! I hate watching them go under anethesia {but like it better than having to hold them down without}. Way to go! And glad that is over with!!

They were tiny little spots, so even though there were 8, they were miniscule. Even so, we need to be careful.

Was Jalen put under? Asher has to go in on the 20th, he has a small cavity also. They are putting him under, not so excited about that always makes me a little nervous. That's cool Jalen did so well.
