First Recital

Today was the day that Baylie has waited for since she was old enough to bounce to a beat. She has always wanted to be a dancer. This year she was super excited to finally get to take lessons. And now today was her big show. She was more than ready for it.

She selected this hairstyle for her big day. It actually wasn't as hard to do as it looks, but I don't think it will last long.

Her first dance was a tap number to "Crazy Little Thing Called Love." She is really good at this dance and gives it her all. I gained a lot of appreciation for her teacher at the recital because Baylie's group had way more actions than most of the little girls and consequently were more fun to watch. They were also the only little ones to have two different costumes.

The second dance was a ballet to "Under the Sea." The girls had a little more trouble with this dance. The music ended before they did, but they just continued on until they were through with their routine. It was so cute. 

Afterwards all the dancers got a pretty hefty trophy.

She was very excited to get her own flowers after the show.

Jalen was actually really into the recital and loves to dance.

As you may be able to tell from some of the pictures, they performed on a large stage. It's the Koger Center, which is the main venue in Columbia for ballets and concerts. The New York City ballet performed on this very stage just a couple of weeks ago. This is also where David and Baylie go to see The Nutcracker. Baylie was very excited to be backstage (and was a little confused since she thought she would actually be dancing in The Nutcracker).

We were so proud of Baylie. She is an amazing little dancer.
