When Things Don't Go As Planned

This was us 15 minutes before time to go to church.

Everyone was dressed, happy, ready to go.

I made the mistake of mentally congratulating myself on how "together" we were for once. Just then, I got an e-mail asking for help. I spent 20 minutes trying to find someone else who could help, but it didn't work out. Things went downhill from there.
  • I dropped off David and the kids at Church, upon which David realized he was still wearing his slippers instead of his Sunday shoes.
  • What could be worse? There was a hole in the toe of one of his socks.
  • What could be worse? He was playing the organ that day in church and would have to go up in front of everyone.
  • What could be worse? He was also singing with the choir that day.
  • What could be worse? We were both assigned to speak.
  • What could be worse? I got back to church five minutes late and had to march in with David's huge shoes in hand.
  • What could be worse? My family was sitting on the very front row.
  • What could be worse? Just as I stood up to speak, we discovered that Baylie had peed clear through her dress and onto the bench.
What could be worse? Actually, nothing, things got a little better after that.

Please don't feel bad. We were blessing Kiera today in Irmo Ward and went through just about as much chaos, only I also had to coordinate the arrival of 30 family members. Let me also say that at least half of them were non-lds and that one couple had just recently lost thier son. Yours and Bro. Bachelor's talks were perfect! Everyone teared up. And it got us a LOT of really good questions about the Plan of Salvation. Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou both for your wonderful words of inspiration today!

@ Asmus Clan - thanks so much! I needed to hear that.

@ Tiffani - my house is a mess and my children run around naked and dirty. NOT! If you remember, I've always been able to do five things at once.

@ Wendler Fam - we did survive and it ended up being a great Sunday.

Classic! I love your family! I love that David went to church in his slippers- sounds like something I'd do. Actually, just a few months ago when I was teaching jr. high school I accidently wore 2 different shoes to school. And my students totally called me out on it.And I had to wear them all day long... Wish I could've had someone come to my rescue!
