Broken Arm by Broken Leg

Last night Baylie was running like a wild woman through our house - like usual. All of a sudden she was crying hard and saying that her hand hurt. We have no idea what happened. Since she loves to climb and jump on stuff, I thought maybe she fell off her bed, but David says there wasn't even time for that. Her hand was pretty swollen. We had my dad come over and look at it. He wrapped it up and said if it was still swollen in the morning, we should take her to the doctor.

Our doctor isn't in the office on Tuesdays, so we saw Dr. Brokenleg (she's married to a Sioux Indian). She thought Baylie's arm was broken and sent us for x-rays. Turns out that Baylie has several fractures in both bones in her lower arm. I guess she was tired of Jalen getting all the attention. Fortunately, there are no breaks in her wrist or elbow, or on any growth plates. She will be in a splint and sling for a week and then they'll cast it when the swelling has gone down.

She's a tough little girl and has hardly cried at all. It did hurt when they twisted it to check for the break though.

I'm not convinced the sling is much help since this is what it usually looks like.

Will our life ever calm down??!!

Oh! That is so sad! I'm glad she's taking it so well though. Hopefully life will slow down now....

STOP IT! Girl, we are sending extra prayers your way...She looks really really cute in the little sling though! I can't wait until she gets a cast... make sure you buy that glitter paint or glitter spray and spark-lify that thing!!

:( so sad!
That is very much how the sling that was given to Amelia for a broken collar bone was worn. Didn't really help at all.
Hope she gets to healing quickly. What a tough little girl for not crying! I'm super impressed.
