Washington DC Trip - Day 2

We got up early the next morning and went down to explore the waterfront. Washington, NC, is a quaint historic town with beautiful homes, a nice historic district, and a beautiful water front. We were short on time so we just took a minute to walk down the waterfront.

We took a few pictures of historical buildings/homes.
I found this convent particularly interesting.
We got a couple of patries at the bakery (not me though!).
This sign was out front. It was cool because a week or so later, we introduced the kids to some of his movies.
Sometimes we sign and play games in the car. And sometimes we're just all on our devices.
We met up with our nephew Cameron and headed to the DC Temple for the open house - the primary reason for our visit. It's so beautiful. You can get information on the temple HERE.
The kids had never been to such a big temple and they had only been to the baptistry portion of the temple. They loved being able to see the other areas. Cameron had lots of questions as he does not belong to our church.
After the temple, we went downtown to see some of the traditional sites.

Library of Congress
Supreme Court
House of Representatives
Senate
Fountains behind the capitol building.
I had never been to the back side of the capitol building. It was great because we could get so close. The front side was blocked off.
Washington DC is such a beautiful city and the buildings are all stunning.
I think this is the House of Representatives, but I could be wrong.
Washington Monument
We decided to recreate a photo from when the kids were little. It was a little tricky.
But we did it!
Lincoln Memorial by night. We had originally planned to walk all the way down, but by then we were exhausted, it was getting dark and it was still a bit of a hike. We decided to head back to the car.
It was the right move because we were exhausted. We got to our Airbnb and were glad to sleep!
