Flying Home

After a jam-packed two weeks, it was time to head back home. We always end up with more bags than we start with.

The new SLC airport is hideous and poorly designed. If you're not flying Delta, you have to walk forever!

While checking in, we met a missionary heading home to our stake! Elder Hawkins lives in Newberry. We spent the day with him, which was nice because we had a very long layover in Chicago.

In Chicago, we saw this retro paint job on a United plane. Pretty cool.

Jalen was incredibly excited about this Lego vending machine. His dream come true!
This was the furthest east the Stetson had ever been. I held it carefully on my lap all the way home
We made all our flights and were excited to be back in our own car.
And the hat got hung up in a place of honor in the entry way.

Cody makes these cool things that light up and this is my new bedside pill holder. Love it.

Colorado Reunion 2022

One of my favorite things each year is the Colorado Reunion. I love getting together with my Bayles relatives. We've been getting together each summer ever since I was a kid. It was my first time in three years. Two years ago it was cancelled because of COVID and last year I stayed home with Mom. It was good to be back.

Baylie slept most of the way.

Jalen did not.

We stopped in Moab to cross the Colorado River. It's such a beautiful spot.
We saw some massive tracks down by the river. It's hard to tell from the picture, but they were probably six inches across. I think it was probably a massive wolf.
I love the red rocks of Southern Utah!
The ranch is across from Mesa Verde. I love this view.

We weren't very happy with the hotel where we spent our first night so we moved to a new one. The pool was pretty cool.
We found an amazing antique store with an old fashioned soda counter called the Antique Corral.
The food was tasty too!
There were so many cool things. It's probably good David doesn't have a job so I couldn't buy anything.
Personal favorite
I love it when Justine's parents come to make Fry Bread. AMAZING!

Cody took this beautiful shot.
Jalen made new friends with his cousins. I like that he can roam free.
Uncle Mark, Baylie, Dad and Uncle Lyman
Grandad and Grammy
Misty's dad made himself comfortable.
Testimony meeting is always a special occasion.
Dad wanted to see his brother, Eric, so we made a trip to Blanding. He welcomes visitors from the road.
Holy Horsehoes, Batman!
More welcoming signs.
Dad and Eric are a year to the day apart. They were very close growing up, but their lives took very different paths.
Eric says I have a special place in his heart.
I was completely shocked when he gave me his Stetson. This is a big deal! This hat is epic. It means so much to me. It made me cry.
He gave Baylie and Jalen ropes. He makes them himself.
Eric is the last of a dying breed. He was named cowboy of the year in 2012 by Western Horesman.
I love Eric and I love how unique he is.

While we were there, Jonna and Rick Meyer came down to see us. Jonna is my client and she is doing amazing.
They  named their first child after my mom.
Us with the Meyers.
I was so proud to be the owner of this amazing hat.
We stopped to see Uncle Lyman and Aunt Jean's new home, which was perfect, and then we headed back to Provo. It was almost time to go home.
