Disney World - Day 1

Wow - what a day! We got to the park pretty close to 9 a.m. when it opens. Had we known how long it would take us to actually get in the park, we would have left earlier. We stayed until after 10 p.m. The kids were really amazing, but they were exhausted. We all were.

We parked in the Simba lot and took the little train to the transportation station. As a kid I remember loving this part of the Disney experience. My kids loved it too.
We decided to take the ferry. It was fun for the kids, but the monorail definitely would have been faster.
My friend Nichole made us matching shirts to wear every day. Day 1 was swirly Mickey/Minnie Mouse. It was so nice to be able to find each other based on our shirts.
The kids couldn't believe they were actually here. It was their first time at Disney World. The last time Baylie had been at Disneyland, she was three. Jalen was just under two. They are at an age where everything is still magical. Everything was so much fun with them.
Our first fast pass was for the Jungle Cruise. It was a great way to start the day. Baylie was a little nervous.
Jalen had some concerns as well.
We explored the Swiss Family tree house. I had never climbed it before.
We fast passed Splash Mountain and then waited in line for Thunder Mountain Railroad. We ate the lunch we packed while we waited in line.
Cooling off.
Our final advance fast pass was for Buzz Lightyear.
One of the kids' favorites was the speedway where they got to do their own driving.
David and I are both very grateful they aren't 16 yet. Mercy!
No Disney trip is complete without a visit to the teacups.
We loved the Winnie the Pooh ride because there was so much entertainment for the kids while we waited in line. (We only waited about 20 minutes.)
Cinderella's castle is under construction, but the outside was still beautiful.
It's a Small World.
Waiting for the Haunted Mansion - the kids' least favorite ride.
Electrical Parade. (Apparently I missed the announcement not to take pictures. Whoops!) My parents and I held places for the parade about an hour in advance so that we would have good seats - and we had great ones. It's always so annoying to do that only to have people walk up and squeeze in at the last minute. Seriously people! During the parade one of the gallant dancing men from Cinderella's wedding winked at Baylie and Drusilla blew a kiss to Jalen.
My favorite part of the parade - Pete's Dragon.
It even blew smoke!
The kids were too exhausted to even wait for the lazer light show on Cinderella's castle or the fireworks. I couldn't complain because after a 12-hour day, they were still in great spirits.
Even their daddy was beat.
It was a fantastic day and couldn't have gone better. Other than a 40-minute wait for Thunder Mountain Railroad, we didn't wait more than 20-25 minutes for any ride. It sprinkled for about 15 minutes in the afternoon, but overall the weather was great (hot, but great). We did everything that I had fast passes for on Wednesday, so I've redone all our fast passes for that day.

Tomorrow we are going to do Animal Kingdom and maybe also try and hit highlights at Epcot and Hollywood Studios. Hopefully the kids are up for another full day. Hopefully the grownups are too!
