Beach Day - Isle of Palms 2020

We are leaving soon for a cross-country trip and will be gone the rest of summer. We knew we wanted to get in a beach day before it was too late. We prefer to go on a week day because it's usually less crowded. The weather on Thursday wasn't awful, but it was a little chilly with a slight change of rain so we figured the beach wouldn't be crowded. We decided to go for it.

We were shocked when we go to Isle of Palms to see how crowded the parking lot was.
The beach was also jam packed. We started to question the wisdom of our visit.
We were relieved once we got up close to see that people were respecting social distancing and not setting up close to one another.
The kids were so excited to be back at the beach.
Since I thought it wouldn't be crowded, I had the brilliant idea to bring Tashi. Dumb idea. She loves to swim, but she HATES other dogs. It was a battle keeping her under control and not annoying everyone around us. Next time she is definitely staying home.
It was a bit cloudy and the water was cold, not freezing, just chilly.
Baylie didn't care. She loves the ocean and will swim in any kind of weather. She worked on perfecting her handstands.

Jalen was completely freaked out by stories of sharks and jelly fish. He spent very little time in the water.
This was my first time back at the beach since losing so much weight. It was such a different experience. I wasn't self conscious about my body and I was able to walk easily across the sand.
It was a little too cold for me. I used to be more like Baylie, but I don't like getting cold much anymore. I think living in the South has gotten to me.
The kids insisted on burying each other in sand.
Jalen loves hunting for shells, but he doesn't collect shells like other people. He likes pieces of shells and especially the middle of whelk shells. He doesn't care whether or not his shells are broken. He also wanted to find shark teeth, but we didn't find any.
My favorite thing about South Carolina beaches are the dunes and grasses.
I spent most of the time holding on to Tashi's leash.
A little volleyball.
Jalen was cold and sleepy so he took a nap.
I am still wearing the same suit, but it's probably time for a new one. Here is a comparison of how I looked last year compared to this. I like the change!
We love where we live!
