David's 34!

Could he be any cuter?!
I forgot to post a picture of phase 2 of David's birthday. Since we won the cookie club giant cookie, we decided to use that for David's birthday. His birthday fell on a Sunday this year and we were out of town on Friday and Saturday, so we had a giant cookie and ice cream on Thursday. Unfortunately, I didn't take any pictures of that. I thought it looked gross, but everyone said it was tasty.
Today was David's actual birthday. The kids could hardly wait for him to open his presents.
Consequently, he had a lot of help opening them.
Jalen was really disappointed to learn that the Iron Man action figure he picked out was actually for Daddy and not for him.
Fortunately, Daddy was willing to share. (Jalen is sleeping with said Iron Man even as I type...)
Baylie's favorite gift for Daddy was the Mouse Trap game. They started it before church...
...but had to finish it afterwards.
David's favorite gift was "The Study of Orchestration, Third Edition" by Samuel Adler. Sounds like a fascinating read (NOT!). This book will help him with his dissertation.
Baylie helped make Daddy's carrot cake from scratch.
David was excited about his carrot cake and his official Blue Bell Cookies and Cream ice cream, his personal favorites. (For those of you who don't know, Blue Bell is made in Texas and is the best ice cream ever. It is also waaay too expensive for our usual budget.)
 Blowing out the candles!
David is now 34 years old - that's how old I was when we got married. Kind of freaky to think about.

David is an amazing man. He is so talented. Many people know that he can sing to melt your heart and can also compose beautiful music ranging from a country tune to a symphony, but not many know that he can also draw and sculpt and write beautiful poetry. He is such a fun dad and a long-suffering husband who always makes me feel like my worst is still good enough. He has never made me feel anything but loved and accepted. Someone once said that David was like Stephen, "a man in whom there is no guile" and I think that's true. David is sincere, honest, kind, and steady. He is a joy to be around and it is my blessing and privilege to be his wife.

I made a list of 30 awesome things about David when he turned 30, which you can read HERE. I'll add four more in honor of his 34th birthday.

31. His testimony is unwavering.
32. He is a natural missionary and loves to share the Gospel.
33. He likes to empty the dishwasher.
34. He is smart.
Love you, Babe.
