David's birthday is Sunday. Because my parents are in town, we are celebrating over the next few days. Part one of our celebration was last night because we have free babysitting courtesy of the grandparents. We put the kids to bed and headed off to the theater.
We had originally planned to see Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - a David favorite - but the movie didn't start until 10:30, so we decided to go to The Giver instead. We had a couple of gift cards, a reward certificate for a free movie, a coupon for $2 off the movie plus we learned that Tuesday at Regal Theater is $2 popcorn. So we really scored.

When we got to the theater, we were the only ones! I love having the theater to ourselves. So much fun, nobody kicking my chair, nobody talking during the movie, etc. etc. In fact it was so quiet, I fell asleep and missed most of the movie. Dang it!
Since we made such a deal on the first movie, we decided to go see Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles anyway! We haven't done a double header like that since we were childless and faced with a raging rainstorm in Houston. (Back then it was easier to see another movie than make a run for the car. Houstonians will understand.) We still had the gift card, a couple of $2 off Entertainment coupons, and we went for a second bag of $2 popcorn.
We were the only people in the theater again, so David was able to check an item off his bucket list by making hand puppets on the big screen. (Our party was crashed by another couple just before the movie started.)I thought for sure I'd be able to stay awake during Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, but I fell asleep again! Every time I woke up, the same stuff was happening, so I don't think I missed much.
It was nice just to get some time alone with my hubby - even if I did sleep through most of it.
