One thing we have learned living here in the south is that you cannot carve your pumpkins too early. The heat and the humidity will mold them overnight. And while that can make for some pretty spooky jack-o-lanterns, it's not really something you want sitting on your front porch for long.
We carved our pumpkins the Monday before Halloween and they held up pretty well. David is always the carving supervisor.
Baylie wanted the Whomping Willow.Jalen wanted Spiderman.
With one exception, we have always gone with a family theme for Halloween. This year was Harry Potter. Jalen was Harry, Baylie was Hermione, David was Dumbledore and I was Professor Trelawney.
Friday was Donuts for Dads where dads go to the school and work the car line, unloading kids for school. It's always a fun day for kids and dads. David went in his costume and was a big hit.
Saturday afternoon was the annual Trunk or Treat. It took hundreds of tries to get a decent family picture.
Not this one.
Not this one.But this one was pretty good.
Bit donuts off a string.
Jalen cheated.
Baylie worked hard until she finally succeeded.
On Halloween night, we went with our good friends the Sogaards to trick or treat in their neighborhood. I can't believe I didn't take any pictures, but I have to say that I have never seen that much candy before. It was crazy! (I always take most of the candy and use it for a 24-day countdown to Christmas.)
