Bryce Canyon

In between our weeks in Vegas and our weeks in Utah, we decided to spend a couple days at my sisters' family's cabin in the mountains above Cedar City. We had fun being away from technology, city lights, the television, playing in the woods, playing card games, hiking and just being in nature. It was awesome.

We learned three new games: Avocado Smash, Skull King, and Cover Your Assets. All were fun and we're adding them to our family games.
Gathering wood
Playing "Hunger Games."
Love seeing this.
Pretty flowers
The cabin is an amazing work in progress. My brother-in-law Dave (yes, my sister and I both married Davids) has built it from the ground up for the past 12 years. He has done most of the work himself with help from friends and family. The logs used for the walls and ceiling frame are humongous.
You can't really appreciate it in the picture, but the cross beam is really big.
View from the living room to the loft and kitchen.
 Fireplace.
This gives you an idea of the size of the logs.
Flappy goes everywhere the family goes.
I was surprised to learn that my sister's kids had never been to Bryce Canyon because it's not far from the cabin. Bryce is my favorite national park (Utah has so many amazing national parks). On the way we spotted pronghorn deer (fasted animal in North America).
We also saw buffalo - apparently they're actually bison, but we've always called them buffalo.
The landscape in this area is stunning even before you get to the park.
And once  you get to Bryce, it's just breathtaking.
I freak out around edges so the hike was pretty stressful for me. I did better after David and I held back and let the kids go on ahead.
I hope my kids always remember this trip.
Here's a before and after of our family at Bryce. We've changed a bit!

Afterwards, we went to Old Bryce Town for souvenir shopping and ice cream.
We had a great time in Vegas, at the cabin, and at Bryce. We were sad to say goodbye, but excited to head to Grammy & Granddad's.
