Our 4th and final day was devoted to the Museum of African American History and Culture. It was a fascinating place. It was emotional, informative, interesting. We could have spent a lot more time there. As it was, we spent about 2 1/2 hours.
I didn't take many pictures because it just didn't seem appropriate. It seemed disrespectful.
We bought the kids these cool shirts from a street vendor. We managed to meet up with my sweet friend Stephanie Hall and her family. It was amazing how many people we knew were at the open house during the weeks it was going on.
We made one more swing past the White House on our way out of town. This time the front. You can't get very close anymore.
On the way home, we drove through Roanoke - Jalen's birthplace. We decided to make a detour so he could see the hospital where he was born. We stopped at a railroad station first because it said 'Roanoke.'
Jalen was born in Roanoke Hospital.
Jalen always asks a lot about his birth family and he loved seeing where he was born.
It was a lot trip home. We were tired. I was glad that I didn't have to go to school!
I am so glad the kids got the chance to see inside the temple. We all had a great time in Washington (both of them.)
