When Brigham Young first came into the Utah Valley, there were three women in the party. We are descended from one of them. There is now a large monument and a historical park commemorating this even.
The monument at This Is The Place Heritage Park.
Our ancestor's name is on this plaque - Harriet Page Wheeler Decker Young. She was married to Brigham Young's brother, Lorenzo Dow Young.
She is depicted here holding the hand of her son Isaac Perry Decker.
I am proud of my ancestry.Beautiful lace
Original pioneer home
Many of the buildings have been moved from other sites in Utah to the heritage park.
The memorial to children who died on the trail is very moving.
The kids took off their shoes and waded in the stream. It was very hot so the stream was refreshing.
Until they spotted a rattle snake! I didn't believe them at first, but they even heard the rattles.
Many of our ancestors crossed the plains in handcarts.
Another ancestor, Ephraim Knowlton Hanks rescued some of the handcart pioneers.
There are books written about him and a movie about him called "Eph's Rescue."

We had such a fun day exploring the park. We drove home through the canyon so we could see all the natural beauty.
