Las Vegas Visit

Ever since learning of Tiffani's diagnosis, it has been really hard to be so far away from her. I have felt helpless to help her or offer much support. So I was really excited to finally see her and spend some time with her. And I was especially excited to be able to go to her home and serve her for a week while David spent some time in the office. Fortunately, I work from home with flexible hours and Jalen is homeschooled so he can go with me. Baylie completed the extra driving course that allowed her to have a parking space at school so she could drive herself.

Jalen and I flew Allegiant. The Provo Airport is a great little airport. Our flight was delayed 45 minutes and United is a more comfortable airline, but it was so convenient and quick to fly from Provo to Vegas.

Jalen was surprised to see slot machines as soon as we got off the plane!

We spent a lot of time just resting and watching football (perfect). I tried to keep things picked up and washed, etc. so Tiff could just relax. She is able to do a lot, but she gets tired easily.

I also spent some quality time with Clara's Rosy Boa.
Check out that knot!!
We ate out at Cane's and In-n-Out.
We did some shopping. (Tempting, but no!)
Tempting, yes please!
Tiff gave us a new advent to count down 25 days of stories of Christ. I'm so excited to add this to our family traditions. Each day we hang an ornament, read some scriptures, and watch a short video. We need to paint the ornaments so Jalen and I painted the first week's worth.
Here are Tiff's completed ornaments.
We decided to take a field trip to Hoover Dam. I've always wanted to go. I think I went once as a child, but I don't remember it at all.
First we crossed the bridge. It was built in 2010. Jalen and I both had a bit of trouble with the height. It was a bit scary!
What an incredible view!
On the line between Nevada and Arizona.
Welcome to Arizona sign in the background.
Closer view of the dam. So massive!
I can't even believe we walked across that!
The art deco style is so cool and shows that when the dam was built, it's style was important.
We also walked over the dam.
We took the dam tour, which let us see some of the inner workings. It was so cool.
This is one of the tunnels where water was diverted while the dam was built.
Turbines
This one was being repaired so we got to see the inner workings.
Model of construction.
Observation deck.
Not sure what these are, but if you rub the foot, it is supposed to give you good luck. Unfortunately, we couldn't do that because they were blocked off.
It is truly incredible to think of men hanging on the cliff face while building the dam.
Lake Mead overlook
It was incredible. It was a long day for Tiff, but I was grateful she thought of the excursion. Hopefully Jalen will always remember it.

We are hoping to make it home tomorrow (flights are full), but I'm going to miss being with Tiff. I wish we lived closer to each other.
